Because I like the titles better, and SONY sux alot of the times even if I want Pirates of the Carribean on HD DVD.

Why can't Sony just make titles for both BLU RAY and HD DVD?

I went HD DVD first simply because I had a 360, and was able to get the add-on for $160... I am now neutral...

I went HD mainly because of the Xbox 360 and the game Dead Rising. I had owned an Xbox 360 since it lauched, and Dead Rising was quickly becoming my favorite game for the system. The only problem was that I couldn't read any of the text in the game, because I was playing it on a standard def television.

One of my friends told me that I would actually be able to read the text in the game if I bought an HD TV. So, the next week I went out and bought a HD TV. Needless to say, I was downright floored by how amazing the GAMES looked on a HI DEF television. Therefore, I was kind of curious as to how good the movies would look. Once I heard the HD DVD add on for the 360 was going to be so cheap I snatched it up right away...and I have been more than impressed with the picture qualities on HD.

I have since become neutral, after I bought a PS3. I needed to get a Blu-Ray player because I am a fan of Disney films.

My Reasons where

Region Free
Price (had xbox addon first)
And the biggest reason, HD-DVD is more consumer friendly.

I bought into HD DVD (HD-XF2) first and I'm supporting it as first choice although I also have PS3 as a Blu-ray player.

My reasons for supporting HD DVD first and foremost:

- No region coding
- No over the top DRM (BD+)
- Great global content availability (I'm very active when it comes to importing and I prefer good quality movies over "latest blockbusters")
- Studios that support HD DVD are more pro-consumer in many ways
- More open format to smaller studios (no disc pressing monopoly etc.)
- Much better availability of reasonably priced & good stand-alone players
- HD DVD promotion group communicates publicly much nicer than BDA does
- I strongly dislike the other-format-killing mentality of BDA and some of the BD supporters

I went HD DVD mainly because of pricing. Got my HD-A2 for $199.00 during one of Amazon's price slashing bouts. I still want a Blu-Ray (mostly because I'm a Disney geek), but I'm not going to spend $500 for a player right now. I'll be paying for my 50" HDTV until I'm 60.
