A special ceremony is planned for Sunday night "to allow everyone to express their solidarity for Roman Polanski and their admiration for his work," festival managers said in a statement.
So they want a demonstration so everybody can express their solidarity for a pedophile........yeah........classy.

The victim at the centre of the case, Samantha Geimer, has previously asked for the charges to be dropped, saying the continued publication of details "causes harm to me, my husband and children".
If I hear that sentence just one more time, someone owes me a
quadro-million ""

Really. What is that with some people? It seems like she feels ashamed for what happened, although she was a minor back then.

I just took the time reading about Polanski's life on Wikipedia.

Oh my, that's some fucked up shit. Sounds like a feature length thriller movie.

Totally forgot about the Charles Manson murders (saw them in a TV "retrospective" and learned about them in history class). It's shocking that all but one member of the Manson family is still alive.

Reminds me: Should I ever think of murder, I'd do it in California "The Sunshine State". Seems like judges there always plead for you, instead of against you.

Crazy.

flight to avoid prosecution. it doesn't matter his conviction on the child rape now, he's done. he got his 30 years of freedom. we got our films from that time, but it's time for justice.

i feel for the guy. the Manson/Tate thing had to destroy him, but that doesn't lessen his crime.

from reading the articles I have read it seems that he served the 49 days or whatever amount of time, and that was what the plea agreement was.
The judge reneged on the deal so I'm not convinced Polanski will end up serving more time.
that remains to be seen.
he did flee because he knew he would get time after the judge reneged on the deal.
right or wrong if the agreement was in place and understood by all parties, then he got screwed.
will be interesting to see what happens here.
With the victim not wanting him to serve more time, it might not happen.
