U.S. loses another gymnast

Morgan Hamm joins his twin brother on the Olympic sidelines in a major setback for the Americans.

Morgan Hamm out of Olympics with ankle injury
By NANCY ARMOUR, AP National Writer
Quote:
The bone spurs digging into his left leg made it impossible for him to tumble, and giving up his spot on the U.S. menís gymnastics team was the right thing to doóthe only thing to do. That didnít make it hurt any less.
Hamm withdrew Thursday, two days before competition begins. He aggravated a chronic injury in his left ankle during training in Beijing, and it never responded to treatment. He clearly struggled on floor exercise during the menís training session Wednesday, and it wasnít any better Thursday.

ďThis has been an extremely hard decision for me to make. Iíve given everything I can to be ready to compete at this Olympic Games,Ē Hamm said. ďItís best for me to step down and have another athlete fill my position. This is something for me thatís very tough because itís end of my career, and itís not the way I had planned it.Ē
Nothing about these Olympics has gone the way Hamm and his twin brother, Paul, planned it. Not for the Americans, either.

Olympic sports are like golf...boring. I'd rather watch a bad Sci-Fi made for TV movie like Dragon Wars.

U.S.A.! U.S.A.! U.S.A.!

I always check out the Olympics even though the U.S. is going to mop up in medals as usual.

i can't stand it. especially viewing it w/ an american bias broadcast all rooting for someone just from where they are, not by WHO/WHAT they are. i never was one for school spirit crap, and i suppose that carries over here.

i joked w/ a customer i might tune in for the synchronized sodomy event, but besides that......(i keed). i just hope to see USA basketball lose again.

Won't be watching unless as I predict somewhere along the line, Army puts the smackdown on some protesters. That'll be some made for TV shit.

Okay, I'm confused...

The opening ceremonies aren't until tomorrow, yet I am watching Olympic Soccer (US vs Japan) on Universal HD right now?

soccer starts early due to how many games have to be played. think of it as the regular season before the playoffs
