Anyone else getting an iPhone ??

On Friday or whenever I can get them I will be getting 2 iPhones for my wife and I. This is going to be a chunk of change to be sure but why wife needs a new phone bad and it would cost a bit to get a new phone and plan with Verizon anyway so I guess we are diving in. We also plan to loose the land line to help out with the cost.

I figure 1198 + tax for 1303.42 for the 2 8 gig iPhones. ouch.

110 + taxes ect for 130 a month + 36 for activation (hopefully not x2). ouch.

We pay about 75 a month with Verizon and will save 30 a month dropping the land line so we are looking at a monthly increase of about 25 bucks.

Wish me luck finding 2 iPhones !

Please let us know how you get on. The iPhone is not due to hit our shores until the end of the year. The reviews so far have been quite positive, personally I'm not sure how I'd get on with a touchscreen keypad.

Either way some piccies are a must!

I thought long and hard about it, but decided against it -- at least initially. I'd have to pay the termination fee to break contract with Sprint, the out of pocket costs would be more to me per month (currently on a family plan with my parents -- 1/3rd of that is less than the monthly iPhone contract) and, compared to the Sprint data network, AT&T is pretty slow.

I've currently got a Windows Mobile PPC/phone that gets the job done.. it's a little beat up, but I can browse the web, check my email, and even tether it via Bluetooth to use as a broadband modem for the MacBook if I have to.

Also, early reports are showing that you can't use an MP3 as a ringtone on the iPhone... and I refuse to own a phone that won't play the Magnum PI theme song as a ringtone. Refuse.

I think I'm going to get one, yes it'll be pretty expensive, but I should be able to afford it. I really hope they could offer an option, since you have to get a 2 year contract, that you could spread the payment of the iPhone across the two years, which would basically only add $20-25 per month on to your bill instead of paying the whole $500-$600 upfront.

I want one really bad... but the $600 price tag is what's keeping me away from it.

Anyways, good luck finding 2! Please post pictures and a mini-review of it when you get it.

Thanks.

but if someone gave me a free iPhone with free service than that's OK.

Well after looking into things a bit more I think that I am only going to get one for now. My wife really needs a new phone and I hardly use mine at all since I am alwalys home with the boy. If I was to get paroled to go to a baseball game or something I could just use her phone while she stays home with the boy. So here is the new math. We keep the landline and just get one iPhone.

499 + 43.91 tax = 542.91

60 + tax and fees = 70ish a month + 36 activation.

I may still get her a 8 giger. I hear that the OS takes like 800 megs by itself sooo.....

Mabey there will only be one type when I get there assuming I can get one at all. What do you guy think ? Is another 4 gigs worth 100 bucks ?

ill be in line too. Friday. 6pm. Let the count down begin.

For the extra 4GB, hell yes. $100, no problem I would say. I mean your about to pay $500 anyways. What not $600.
