This will be a Day 1 buy. My favorite movie of the year so far.

I went in figuring it'd be pretty good - I didn't expect it to be THAT good, rivals the original Spider-Man 2 for my favorite Spidy flick!

Saw it a couple nights ago and thought it was just OK. Jake Gyllenhaal was great as Mysterio though. And it was nice to see
Spoiler
J.K. Simmons reprise his role as J Jonah Jameson during the mid-credits scene.
But, it was a pretty plain Spiderman movie, filled with mind-numbing action scenes and corny jokes & dialogue. I'm interested to see what they do with the next film though, especially with the direction they're going in now.

It probably won't happen, but it'd be cool if they did one of the Spiderman films like the Into the Spiderverse animated film, but have Tobey and Andrew come back. That scenario could have a lot of potential and be a nice send-off for both previous franchises that Sony just gave up on and abandoned.

They've actually made that joke in the comics about Tobey and Andrew. Two of the Spider-Men, one in a classic costume and one in the Symbiote Suit are talking and one of them says, "I think I saw a Spider-Man that looks like the guy from Seabiscuit." The other retorts with something like, "Really? I saw one that looked like the guy from The Social Network."

You know, I've never understood the huge passion for Spider-Man 2. Don't get me wrong, it's a great movie, and until Mysterio, it had the best Spider-Man fight sequence with Doc Ock on the train, but the movie suffers a lot. Some of my biggest issues include the plot of his failing powers, selfish bitch MJ (not to mention Dunst's piss poor acting and having no chemistry with Tobey at all), Tobey's weird faces when he tries to act mad or confused, the amount of screaming, all of the Raimi-isms, especially in the hospital with Doc Ock, the lack of quippage, and the pulling off his mask in front of Ock.
