Default The First Purge 4K & Blu-ray - HDD Reviews

Franchise creator James DeMonaco hands over directing duties to Gerard McMurray in The First Purge and gives fans arguably the best installment in the series, injecting a genuinely creepy vibe and a spooky atmosphere to an otherwise bland and familiar plot.

I've heard nothing but terrible things about this installment. Also seems to have the lowest audience score on Rotten Tomatoes at the moment out of all of them (33%). I might hold off on blind-buying this one and wait 'til it just hits TV to see it.

Itís fun, doesnít really bring anything new to the table, but if you liked the others youíll like this. Old white men are blatantly the bad guys.. so itís very relevant even for a Purge movie.

It's fun but not as sharp as the first three - I thought mostly because we just didn't need a prequel. like a lot of horror franchises the entry that "Goes Back To The Beginning" just isn't necessary. There are some decent frights, good suspense, but it suffers from "been there" syndrome - that's my takeaway at least.

I can't stand prequels in general. I can't think of any I enjoyed.

Not even Insidious: Chapter 3 or Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom?

I have never seen any of Insidius.

Temple of Doom I liked a lot, but I never knew it was a prequel lol

Yeah, Temple of Doom is a prequel, set approximately a year prior to his adventure for the Ark. That's the reason we don't see him fighting Nazis again until The Last Crusade.

Movies are so rarely great art that if we cannot appreciate great trash
we have very little reason to be interested in them.

Had no idea because I was too busy enjoying the movies
1 year earlier is soon too, some prequels go too far back where i have no interest
