Default Skyscraper 4K & HD - HDD Reviews

Watch Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson climb a tall crane, leap onto a burning building, and take out the bad guys to save his family in... Skyscraper! This uninventive rehash of better disaster action movies survives only on the bald-headed bravado of Johnson who delivers yet another engaging performance in an over-the-top action spectacle. As far as big dumb action movies go, this is pretty dumb, but if you turn off your brain and grab a bucket of buttery popcorn, it's still a hell of a lot of fun.

Unfortunately, we weren't given a 3D screener - or at least yet - I hope it's solid because I really enjoyed the 3D image in the theater as a number of sequences were clearly designed for it. If we don't get one sent to us, I plan on picking it up and will be working up a review.

Will probably get the 4K when it streets. I had thought this was a Warner Bros release so I would have had to shop for a bargain.

That would be great, thanks! This looks like the type of film where the 3D element could be used pretty nicely.

Wait, what? Wasn't this movie just released in theaters?

I guess it was so poorly received that they moved it to home video post-haste? Looking it up it released in most placed on July 30th, that's basically 2 months ago, so I wasn't having a time-sense lapse (I do that sometimes).

I know movies come to home video faster these days, but that's still absurdly quick for a big budget movie to jump from theater to disc.

This movie was specifically made for the Chinese/Asian market. I'm convinced.

It was an awful movie.

Nice job with the 3D disc review. Great to hear this is a post-conversion job done right. Kinda sounds like it'll be on park with Kong: Skull Island's 3D conversion.

Just recently watched Spider-Man: Homecoming on blu-ray 3D and was very underwhelmed by the 3D effect in that one. Does one company/studio do the 3D post-conversions for all the major studios, or does each Hollywood studio have their own teams that work on them? Seems that Warner 3D blu-ray releases have been really terrific the last few years and Sony's have been sub-par. Maybe that's why they rarely do 3D releases anymore?
