Default Halloween 4K - HDD Review

John Carpenter's seminal horror classic Halloween IS the king of slasher films! After forty years of remakes, homages, parodies, and torture porn flicks, Carpenter's well-crafted, massively influential, and iconic film remains a simple, effective genre piece oozing with style and a creepy atmosphere that still delivers the goods. Death comes home to 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray with a somewhat disappointing Dolby Vision HDR presentation, features the same passable Dolby TrueHD soundtrack, and ports over the same set of supplements as before. The overall UHD package is Worth a Look for the most devoted and hardened fans.

Great. A whole new opportunity for Dean Cundey to change his mind about what the movie is supposed to look like.

I kind of want it, but it's not like I can play the movie in 4K yet and I'm sure the BD will be the same as the Shout! disc.

As excited as I am about the possibility, unless it's truly incredible, I'll probably sit this release out. I've lost track of how many times I've bought this movie now - at least six (probably more).

For what it's worth, looks like this release is legit. Listing up on Amazon.ca for it right now for only $20.99 (decent price) from studio Anchor Bay Entertainment Canada

Per Halloweenmovies.com - looks like we'll be getting some Atmos and Dolby Vision - if those logos on the disc are are legit. https://halloweenmovies.com/excl-hal...-release-date/

note: The Atmos listing is on the spec sheet at Diabolik DVD - don't know how accurate that is

I guess this is the advantage of seeing certain movies for the first time on BD. I've only bought Halloween twice, the 35th digibook and the 15 disc box set.

Now some other movies, like Godzilla ones, I have bought repeatedly since the days of VHS.
