Default Die Hard 4K - HDD Review

The soundtrack's the same, but Professor E says watching Die Hard on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray makes you feel very much as though watching you're it again for the first time in cinemas.

So how's the blu-ray that came with this release? Is it based off the new 4K remaster as well, or still the same 10+ year old original blu-ray transfer?

I had read before the release happened that the BD would be the same disc. Only the 4K is new.

When I was at Walmart earlier today I saw a steelbook containing all 5 of the Die Hard movies. Unfortunately it's standard Blu-ray. Somewhat tempting though. Don't remember the price and I cannot find it on their website either.

You sure it wasn't Best Buy?

Sadly, the Blu-ray is same as previous releases. According to Fox, the new 4K remaster was used only for the UHD, which as far as I could tell was not a remaster of the original elements.

Thanks for clarifying about the included blu-ray's video specs. Shame they didn't press a new disc with the new remaster. Guess I'll have to look into getting one of those Panasonic 4K players for my 1080p projector now after-all.

The Panny is an excellent player. I love it! But for a few dollars more the Oppo offers better upscaling capabilities.
