From the other thread: http://forums.highdefdigest.com/hd-d...ml#post1654810

I think it does come out to be better than their free shipping promos..

Inet is cool, but you have to research the title you want. Some are stripped down Canadian releases. FYI

Yeah, I was tempted by the Canadian versions of Sling Blade and Seven (Se7en) on Blu-ray ($17.99 each less 25%) but I learned the Canadian version of Seven is the wrong aspect ratio (and a bare bones disc without so much as a menu). I can't find any information on the Canadian version of Sling Blade. The cover is different than the US release so I'm worried the transfer will be inferior. Anyone know the differences?

In the meantime, I have two HD DVDs in my cart and I'll see how cheap they continue to be after shipping.

I usually check Amazon CA or I type "canadian import" into the search bar here. Some might have bad PQ/AQ, No special features, or missing items like Digital Copy and uncut versions. Wanted Sin City but after researching, I'll just get it here. Just pulled the trigger on Passchendaele which is a true Canadian exclusive.

Yeah, I searched the forum and the web for any information on the differences between US & Canadian Sling Blade. I'm not 100% sure there ARE any differences but the cover is different. I'll wait on that until I know more.

As for the HD DVDs... iNetVideo wanted $5.54 in shipping, which is MORE than the 25% discount on the two titles! That ended up making the two HD DVDs $6.46 each. Then I went on Amazon and found highly-rated third party sellers selling new copies $2.93 each + $2.98 shipping for a total of $5.91 each. So much for iNetVideo's big 25% off sale!

Mark

I own the Alliance release of Sin City. The PQ/AQ is fantastic and on par with the US release. But it includes no digital copy or bonus features... however after listening to the feedback of most people, the sin city extras really aren't worth watching, so the Canadian release with it's significantly lower price is/was the way to go. I ended up getting the movie for $10 a few months back.

I thought only the US release had the extended cut. That's quite a significant advantage, regardless of other special features.
