Default Zavvi's Mega-Monday (and other deals) master thread...

This thread will be used to discuss notable deals on zavvi.com.
The inspiration that brings you this thread is their Mega Monday sales that they hold. Some are so-so, some are blah, some are worth mentioning.

As with all zavvi purchases, if you do not have the means to play region B titles, you need to research the title in particular before buying. Zavvi will always tell you region B even if it is proven otherwise. Most ARROW and Lionsgate releases are region B locked. StudioCanal is hit:miss, 20th Century Fox is inconsistent as well. Warner and Universal are usually region-free.

Zavvi ships to the USA, and typically charges 0.99 for the whole order, not per item. Sloppy figures, 1 = about $1.50, so a 10 item will cost $15.00 give or take a few cents (without shipping.)

Zavvi does NOT remove the VAT on your purchases to non-VAT countries, so if you question a bargain, take a loot at amazon.co.uk to see if you can get the same item for less.

Amazon UK will remove the VAT, but they also charge a bit more for shipping. You can always create a dummy order, then just not click the final submit button to see what it will cost you.

Been waiting for a decent price on Cop Land, very underrated Stallone movie (region B locked)
Also love The Stuff, fun 80's move that the blu got a good review.
Maybe Ghost Shark and Silent House (gamble)

I haven't ordered from Zavvi before, I did not realize that they do not remove the VAT for non-vat countries the way AMZUK does. Good to know, thanks.

The cheaper shipping does seem to help balance things out though.

Just be prepared that their customer service is horrible. Hopefully none of the items you order get damaged because all they'll do is offer you a 10% discount on your damaged item. However, if you want a replacement order, they'll make YOU pay for the return shipping of the original product first. You'd be losing a good chunk of change doing it that way. Terrible company. Honestly, just stick with Amazon.co.uk as much as you can. Their shipping may be a little higher, but they take the VAT off your orders and their customer service is stellar if you have any problems with an order.

That does sound pretty terrible, thanks, I'll keep prioritizing AmazonUK then. Have been importing from AmzUK for quite a while now (particularly since going BD region free several years ago), no problems yet and if I ever run into one, am confident it will be easily taken care of thanks to the way domestic Amazon has handled my issues that I've ran into-- quickly with no hassle.

What phantom says is true, however you have to pull the credit card card out of your pocket when negotiating a claim with them. Try to make them do right, if they offer a bogus response, say you'll let your credit card company know about the experience ... I've had two damaged steelbooks from them and did not budge on my stance. They knew they were in the wrong because of the flimsy mailers they tried using to save a buck.

Zavvi's Spring Sale with items up to 80 percent off. I've selected Blu Ray for your ease.

Zavvi has Lost: The Complete Collection for about $68.50 shipped.
Comparably speaking, current price on Amazon USA is $419.00. Amazon UK has it for about $90.
This one is region locked though.
The difference in price between the US and UK versions though, you could buy yourself a region-selectable player and a few more titles to spare!

House M.D for about $90, this one's region free.

It's Lost, seasons 1-6 boxset. That's not the same as the complete collection in the US.
