I just picked this up for $10.99 (new) in-store at Hasting's. There was no way that I was gonna' pick it up for any more than that. I had rented it from Netflix first and was pleased at the bump in picture quality. Make note that this is not a restoration. The film has instances of print damage, but nothing that completely distracts. Gotta love that Jenny Agutter!

I have this on DVD and for $9.99 I COULD pick it up. Is it that much better on blu ray? Cmon guys I need some friendly nudging.
Some day I'll get to reading the book.

Nudge Nudge....I picked this up at Frys the other day since it is also $9.99. It doesn't sound spectacular, sort of as expected, but the video looks surprisingly good. Worth it at that price.

The book is really weird. It's one of those rare cases where I like the movie better than the book.

I picked this up and watched it last week. I was amazed by the bump in quality and also realized that I rarely make it past the scene with "Box." In fact, I don't know if I'd ever seen the full movie before last week. That said, I can never get enough Jenny Agutter, Gojira - she's really one of the best things about this flick (and Walkabout, from what I've heard).

Glad to hear that! Do yourself a BIG favor then and at least rent
"Walkabout". I already have the previous Criterion dvd and am
contemplating the , as it sounds like a nice step-up. The film is
unapologetically violent at times, yet that is the central message about
nature (be it human or animal). Jenny is breathtaking in this film.
Cheers!
