Default New Walmart Blu Ray Display

Our ghetto Walmart surprised me this morning with a new Blu Ray display in the bargain DVD aisle. It looks very new and only has a handful of titles in there so far. It's a cardboard display that holds about 40 different titles.

All listed with a $15 price point. So far in the display they have The Mist, Casino, Serenity, 3:10 to Yuma and a few others that I can't remember. Unfortunately my phone was in the car, or I would have grabbed a quick photo.

Most can be found cheaper elsewhere, but it's a good sign that our Walmart is finally wading into the Blu Ray pool!

This display is fairly common around here.

As of last week, my closest Walmart still had more Spanish language DVDs than Blu-rays. They have plenty of BR players, big stacks of them... but movies are slim. Six or eight titles mixed in with new releases, a dozen bargains deals scattered around, and there is only one dedicated endcap. There's now 2 1/2 cabinets of Spanish discs... including a bunch of new TV show sets. There may be twice as many of these compared to BRs.

Yeah, still stacks of those Black Friday Magnavox blu-ray players they can't get rid of.

Yeah, I'm hoping that now that we are finally getting a blu ray display rack, even if it is $15 now, those may someday be $12 or $10 titles. It's a start for a store that has virtually no blu ray discs!

Hmmm, 3:10 to Yuma for $15 is real good, I have yet to see that one on sale.

I had to go to the Mississippi Gulf Coast last week. We decided to save our per-diem by buying food instead of going out to eat, so we went to Wal-mart, their may have been another grocery store there but I didn't see it in the first drive through.

Keep in mine the area is very economically depressed, but my god was it a nice wal-mart. They actually had the blu displays I hear everyone talk about, and the $8, $10, $15 specials, not all of the specials but more than I've ever seen. The total selection wasn't over whelming and but far more than our local stores get, and one of the nicest Blu/dvd displays I've seen in a wal-mart.

The only reason I mention economically depressed or not is that so far most people say if your wal-mart doesn't have this display you live in the ghetto and a high theft area. There doesn't seem to by rhyme or reason, maybe it individual managers, maybe it is a test store, maybe its regional.
