Default Avatar Price Watch

I just wanted to start a thread that we could go to and see which retailer has the best price for Avatar.

Right now the prices are:

Best Buy 22.99 Thanks to "dcboi77"
Amazon 19.99 from 24.99 Thanks to "wormraper"
Target 19.99
Walmart 24.96
Frys 19.97 Thanks to "Ferrari Fan"

Amazon is having a special promotion linked to the Blu-ray release of Avatar. If you order this movie simultaneously with another eligible Fox action title, a $3 discount will be applied to your order. Thus, you could buy Avatar and, for instance, Fight Club or Independence Day for only $35.98 after discount. This offer is valid through May 4, and it cannot be combined with other offers.

So far, it looks like I won't be buying Avatar! As far as I'm concerned, no single title on the face of the planet is worth more than $20 on Blu-ray. (Well, Inglourious Basterds was my one exception, but, fortunately, I got it for $16.99.)

Patience is a virtue.

Dear studios and retailers: You could successfully get $19.99 from me on Avatar's release date. But the longer I have to wait beyond the release date for it to drop below $20, the longer I will wait period. Eventually, it will fall below $16. I can wait a year or two if necessary. But once that initial "got to have it" passes on release week, my patience becomes infinite.

Mark

Why bother with this edition? We all know we're eventually getting the 3D version with this version included. Unless Cameron changed his mind and will only release this version. By the time I wait for this to drop below the $15 price, I'm hoping he'll re-release to include the 3d version.

Agreed. No way I'd EVER buy this barebones 2d edition.

Avatar was my favorite movie of 2009 and I had every intention of picking up even this bare-bones edition. However, I'm not going to fork over $25 for it.

We seriously need a price war on this title. Tons and tons of pending unit sales on this, you'd think Walmart would be firing the first shot on this. Maybe the week before release.

Well at least for $25 it is a Blu-ray/DVD combo. Still hoping for it to drop to $20 or better though

is this going to be a barebones edition? without a 3D tv and all the rest of the stuff does it really matter if he releases a 3D version later this year? all I want is movie+special features out the wazoo.
