Amazon Credits for Used DVD's/GamesTrade-ins

I figure that others have probably seen this but since I did not see a posting on this issue, I thought that I would at least make note of it here. I received an email today from Amazon titled "Get Amazon.com Credit in Time for the Holidays" telling me that I could trade in used DVD's and games for on line credits for future purchases. I have attached the link that was in the email. I have not seen this before from Amazon. Is this a new one from them or has this been done before and I just missed it for some reason?

They've been doing it for while. I've never done it, but have considered it a few times.

they've even done deals where you can get bonus credits if you trade in x titles and use the gc towards y titles. very cool stuff.

i've used amazon trade ins on about three or four occasions. please note, even if you don't ship (meaning no credit for you), they will count it against your limit of any item.

they take games and movies in trade, do they sell used games and movies anywhere?

yes. on the item pages themselves, beneath the price, on titles that they're selling there's a very much discounted price. see:

I used their trade-in service for the first time last week. I traded in Halo: Reach for a $40 AGC and Red Dead Redemption for a $20 AGC. That's all I was hoping for if I was going to sell them on ebay, $60ish.

Be aware, their DVD trade-in credit is laughable and non-existent in most cases. As for bluray trade credit, pretty similar. They offered $3/ea for Crank and Crank 2. I realize those aren't AAA titles, but still.

Game trades seemto be the most valuable, provided they're big titles from the past year.

I had a big trade in of games and movies. Still no email though with payment. how long did it take to get yours?

Takes about a business week. Maybe two.

Traded in a bunch of times myself, generally when their trade-in value is within a couple of dollars of what I'd get selling it just to avoid the hassle of a disgruntled buyer. Never any problems with the service.

well that sucks, the site says 2 days upon receiving and they've had mine since the 16th.

I have done this a few times. I got tired of getting jack from FYE for trade ins so explored Amazon. What I'll do is compare the going rate on ebay to what Amazon offers in credit and decide which route to take. It is usually a pretty decent turnaround time on getting the credit posted too.
