Default Is 8K Worth It? Samsung Q900 8K QLED TV Hands-On

We recently got a hands-on look at one of the first 8K displays to hit the US market: The Samsung 85-inch Q900 QLED 8K TV. And after viewing some side-by-side demos comparing the panel to one of the company's 4K models, we've come away with some early impressions on what 8K has in store for the home theater industry.

It still amazes me at the perfect pixel count on a 4K panel, let alone an 8K and comparing it to the old days of 640 x 480 or 800 x 600 displays and dead pixels. Manufacturers had a minimum number of dead pixels before they even considered the panel defective.

Again though, we refer to screen size, resolution, viewing distance and all variations in there. Maybe 8K is a sweet spot or maybe it's not. With the 85 inch screen size, it might be a sweet spot.
