The thing I love about my BenQ is the ability to set a higher refresh rate. Refresh rate of course can also link to V-Sync and higher frame rates on games.
Despite what they say, even on an LCD, 60hz still has the noticeable flicker in some situations.

I was able to OC mine to 80hz, but things felt choppy, so I think it was dropping frames. I backed it off to 75hz and it was smooth, but I couldn't feel any noticeable difference over 60hz, so I'm running at default.

If the imagery on the screen is bright enough and you're running 60hz, and the movement is just right, almost always a side to side pan move of sort, the flicker is noticeable. I run mine at 72 and am quite pleased. I chose 72 as it is a multiple of 24 and I do a fair amount of video too, which a lot runs at 24fps.

Surprised there is no buzz about the Winter Steam Sale this go round. Anything on our wish lists that will become a confirmed purchase?

I allowed myself to buy Dishonored 2, and Nioh: Complete Edition. I would love to buy more, but can't justify it right now after all the money I dropped on my new monitor.

Even though I bought a bunch of new games, I spent my Christmas break playing through Dead Space for the dozenth time. New monitor in the door and the first thing I want to do is play a ten year old game I've played multiple times on 3 platforms...

I feel exactly the same way.

It's still a great game, but there are some very muddy textures. It would settle for an HD texture pack if a fan wanted to make a mod for the existing game.

I feel that way about GTA:SA and GTA IV. Something about those 2 games that entertain me. Maybe SA for the story and building up stats, and IV had a decent cinematic experience but the physics engine of the game was never beaten.
Too bad the GTA:SA on the IV engine never got completed, it looked very good.

I hope that the eventual TES VI is really good. I just keep going back to Skyrim. It'll be hard for them to top that, I think. I know a lot of the fans of the older games didn't care for it as much and I see their point of course, but seriously, I want TES VI. I mean, Skyrim itself was basically a rushed product but it still turned out pretty darned amazing. I'd say my biggest desire for TES VI is a more robust magic system, that's one of the things they pared down to make their 11/11/11 release date. It's not impossible that it could release this fall, which would be nice. That, and Borderlands 3 are my most wanted games.

But with Bethesda repeatedly screwing the pooch as of late, I'm wondering what other studio could do TES justice? Obsidian Entertainment would have been an obvious choice, but they were acquired by Microsoft Studios so Sony players would be SOL if that happened.

After Fallout 4 being pretty boring, and seeing the shameless business moves they made with TES Online and Fallout 76, I have almost no excitement for a new main-line TES game. I would like to think it could be amazing, but I also think it will just be a shameless Skyrim sequel just like Fallout 4 was to 3. Very few meaningful changes.

I'm interested in the new Doom and eventually another Dishonnored game, but that's about it from Bethesda for me. Borderlands 3 and Shadows Die Twice are probably my top anticipated games right now.

Considering the developer, it will probably be punishingly difficult. Not fun for me. I'll play the wait and see game personally.
