Default need to buy new HDTV

my 26" Citizen HDTV died, and as such my PS3 is now connected to a SDTV. let's just say Blu-ray movies aren't quite the same :P

I'm looking at this as an opportunity I'm looking at getting a 40" 1080P HDTV, I was wondering if you guys had some advice, what makes/models would you recommend and why?

People will be able to make recommendations once they know how much you plan on spending.

I'm willing to pay $1000 - $2000 for a quality HDTV, for the past 2 years, I've been stuck with 1080i and now that I'm looking to replace my HDTV, I want to upgrade it with something that shows me how the movies were truly meant to be seen.

I would recommend going to your nearest Best Buy and seeing if they have any 50" 1080p Kuro's left. Someone on here mentioned haggling to get one of these superb discontinued sets from BB for $1500.

You can get a 46" 850 samsung at bby for 1649 right now. The Panasonic 42's are nice as well.

With either of those, you'd have plenty of money left over to get it calibrated as well.

First option: KURO

Second option: the new Panny plasmas G10 models. You can get the 50" for around $1500. Closest thing to the Kuro you can get for that price range. Go Plasma man, it's the only way to fly.

The Pioneer 5020 is the best display you can get for under $2K period - you have to look to find it, but they are out there. It simply is going to deliver the best black levels and phenomenal reliability for years (decades?) to come.
