Default Subwoofer Connection Problem

im hooking up my energy take classic system to a denon 889 receiver, and its picking up all my speakers except my subwoofer. Anyone know why this is happening? has it happened to anyone before with this or another system? i had these hooked up at my work to a txsr606 so i know it works, but cant figure out why its not connecting.

Do you have to enable the subwoofer in a receiver setting and/or set the speakers as 'small'?

Here is something to try ( it happened to me) make sure u have the subwoofer cable in the preout and not the multichannel in. On my Onkyo 806 the preout and multi in are next to each other. I did not notice when I frist turn it on and had the same problem (everything but subwoofer). After some checking I noticed it was in the wrong spot.

i also have the 889 woo hoo. like craizedmanic said make sure the sub is connected to the sw pre out. i made the mistake on my old Sony 800 plugging the sub in the multi in.

and is 889 not reading the sub when you run Audessy?

well, if you plugged everything right and the sub is on, but still nothing it might be the 889. which i hope it's not.

Before going through the hassle of swapping in a new sub, try setting your speakers to small (what you want to do anyway) and check the manual to see what else, if anything, you need to do to tell the receiver you have a sub hooked up.
