Default Best Universal Remote under $100

Looking for a solid uni. that works w/ my directv hddvr box as none of the cheap ones I have do! Also would control all my other components, I know the PS3 probably isn't happening. Does Directv install something in their new boxes that doesn't allow uni. codes to work w/ their boxes?

Spend a bit more to get a Harmony remote by Logitech. Look around. I got mine for $129. They are amazing.

Nothing controls the PS3 except for the Sony remote because it only can be contolled by Bluetooth which is not industry standard for remote controls.

I recently bought the Harmony 720, it's excellent, highly recommend it. I've seen it nowadays for about 149, you could probably get it cheaper if you shop around.

Easy to set up, it's replaced 6 remotes in my home and it also controls my DIY ambi-light attached to the back of my TV.

Anyone can now operate my system without a 15 minute briefing on all of the nuances and settings.

The harmony 550 is an excellent remote and I picked it up at best buy for $99. I would highly recommend this remote, it'll make your life (and your families lives) *MUCH* easier!

What's the different between the 550 and 520?

I might be able to pick up the 520 for under $70...

I recommend ponying up the extra $50 to get into the upper 600 or 700 series. You get an LCD screen (for easy operation), a charger and a cradle. Well worth the extra 50 bucks

I use this for my Home Theater and I LOVE it!
http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/re...s/375&cl=us,en

It controls everything perfectly has learning capability very easy to setup interface and since it is themed like the Xbox it also has the same colored buttons that work well with the DTV HR20

My Components:
Denon AVR-2808CI
DirecTV HR20
Playstation 3 /w IR USB Dongle
Xbox 360
Toshiba HD-A35
Samsung 61" 1080p DLP

OHHH and best of all it is in your price range.

I'm not sure to be honest, I don't even see the 520 on their website anymore. I would check out the number of devices and activities it can store and see if it matches your needs.

The 520 is the stripped-down (less buttons) version of the 550 available at Wal-Mart. I read many complaints about the "feel" of the buttons on these two units, so I went with the 670. I also like the TiVo-like "peanut" shape of the 670.

Amazon used to have the 880 refurbished for $100...I got one & it's a pretty kick ass remote. Keep an eye out, maybe they'll be back?
