TV stands, are there some inexpensive glass ones?
I am finally pulling the trigger on a TV this week for my bedroom, looking like the LN40A650 is going to be the winner. ;) So, I am going to need a stand to put it on. I would like a rather simple looking glass stand, however, I'd rather not spend much more than $200 on it. Seems like everyone wants a good $600 for something simple, which to me seems excessive.

For example, this stand at best buy caught my eye, but I really can't justify $600 for it.

So, do any of you have any suggestions?

man I'm in the EXACT predicament with the Kuro I just bought.
I can't believe the prices on these stands.
I mean shit I had no idea they were so expensive.:eek:
really pisses me off. :mad::mad:
I personally want a tiered black stand with maybe glasstops.
I'm still debating.

I dont know about in the US, but in Canada Walmart has AMAZING stands and racks in the Audio/Video dept, really really nice stuff.

I mean part of me wants to look really hard, and part of me just wants to go to BB and get ripped off and say fuck it. I was actually just about to go looking some tonight.
I saw one stand at BB I really liked out of like the 4 they had.

Nice LCD :) I had to look it up to see what is was. Anyways this is what I have. Atriniti is the cheapest for me right now with $333, I'm not sure if it'd be different based on where you live. I picked mine up for $320 in September or October. It's a really beautiful stand. I have my center channel on the top, BD-P1400 and DVR on the second glass shelf and my 605 and elite on the base. It's a pretty sexy stand for anything 46" and under. :) My one and only complaint is it doesn't hide cords at all really. There's space running up the metal post in back to run cables from the base to your TV but that's the only concealment the stand provides.

Hope you consider my suggestion.

The closest one that Walmart has is in this obnoxious semi-circle shape where the circular portion faces the wall. That is annoying to me, however, it is only $80. My friend bought it for his sharp. The rest of the stands they have seem to have these terrible looking things to hang a flat panel TV on. They did have one stand that would be perfect if not for that extra part. I had half a thought to buy that and cut that part off.

I'm in the same boat as you here Arkadin. Tossing back and forth.

it says "sanus"
what is atriniti?
I'm confused.
That pic looks cool, but I need to see it bigger.

EDIT: ok atriniti is a website. now I get it. hmmmmmmm
got a bigger picture?

I had half a thought of just building my own, lol. You can get everything you need to build one at Home Depot. Just need to put a little elbow grease or sweat equity into it. ;)

Next time you are in best buy, walk into the magnolia room, they have that stand setup.

Arkadin 03-10-2008 11:15 PM

that stand sells for $700 at some of those places.
jesus that is INSANE!!
I just noticed the price variations. What in the world?
those are ridiculous variations. wtf??

my BB doesn't have a Magnolia room. :(

Really? There are two magnolia rooms within about 5 miles from my house. The stand looks really nice and classy in person, I just can't justify the expense.
