Default BD takes Australia

"Sony Australia’s latest HD Benchmark Report puts Blu-ray well ahead of the HD DVD format. Of the nearly 6,000 HD movies sold in Australia in Q1 2007, 90.8% were in the Blu-ray format," the company said in a statement.

Sony just confirmed that the war hasn't even started yet in Australia. 6K discs sold in 3 months?! Let me know when 500k are sold, THEN I'll consider something is happening over there.

Seriously. I'm not going to spin this in any way; 6k speaks for itself.

I'm not sure why people don't get this: this so-called format "war" is just beginning. No one is going to declare victory in Australia after a piddling 6k discs moved.

eh, 6k units is admittedly a pittance in the grand scheme of things, but the supposed 90.8% belonging to BD is a nice little jab in the nose to HD DVD to start off with.

True.

Equally true is that HD DVD has a 100% lead in my household, and in bruce's, too. Either one of us could start a thread saying "HD DVD takes (our hometown)."

And that would be almost as significant as the stranglehold BD now has on Australia!

I know, I'm just being a smart ass!

Bruce by himself can save a format with his wallet if he decides to be a supporter.

As a matter of fact if Bruce were in Australia, the balance would be very different right now.

I would like to know Bruce..from all those titles youy have which one is your favorite?

Perhaps bruce could emigrate to Australia and help HD DVD out over there?

It would certainly make the fight a bit closer.

The numbers aren't that much lower than the old ones for Europe before the PS3 launched, and yet I don't recall a similar post from you in those threads.

Hrm Maybe because at that time HD DVD was the one outselling Blu-ray "8 to 1"?
