Default Poll: The future of BD+

What studio will be the next to adopt BD+? Or will it end at Fox and Paramount, or will it eventually be dropped?

I wish it mattered. BD+ material doesn't bother me one way or another at this time. I have yet to update the firmware for my bdp-350 since last november.

So...the question is relatively moot for me.

Null answer.

Does not matter much anymore as Blu-ray players are generally powerful enough and fast enough and the firmware is more refined to work through.

Unless the studios totally abuse the requirements for firmware updates and are totally tone death its a minor issue now thats being managed well enough to not affect consumers in a major way.

I generally think it will stop at the current studios but it may be extended to the other ones under two scenarios, one is that is so reliable it becomes cheap insurance and everyone does it just because its invisible to consumers and is secure and reliable, or because it needs to be implemented to discourage mass HD quality Blu-ray quality.

But since pirates seem to be happy enough to create faux Blu-ray's to unsuspecting marks or burned DVDs on the street and alleys, the cost of creating real Blu-rays is discouragement enough at this time.

I think this might be a bigger issues for studios as BD-Rs become less expensive. With writable media to burn copies onto, that makes it more of a pressing issue.

If I had to pick, I'd guess Disney. They seem like a studio who would want that little bit of extra protection before the rest. Although Lionsgate horror stuff are faves for pirates. Those young men love that stuff. Toss up, I'd say.
