Default Toshiba vs. Blu-ray: HD movies on chips

An article at "Dave's Download" at U.S. News & World Report says Toshiba is backing movies on memory cards. SD now, HD later.

I'm newbie here so can't post the link -- sorry. Maybe somebody can help?

Sony Pictures and Universal already announced POP kiosk to distribute DVD, Flash movies _and_ Blu-ray movies last year.

We have always been able to get movies via multiple ways. This is the distribution environment Blu-ray was designed for. No surprises there.

Yes, Mike Morel can help. He started a thread about this yesterday.

I see the real future of physical media!!! Don't get me wrong. I love Blu. I've said it once and I'll say it again. This could be the next big thing for the studios. Still some hurdles though. Once the costs come down on larger sized cards for HD movies the "disc" will be obsolete. All they need to do is put the movie on there. Spare me the rest of the junk. This would be as big an evolution as it was with VHS to DVD. Less moving parts. Smaller size. Can't wait!!!

This isn't practical at the moment. Re-writable cards (which is what they seem to be talking about) have all the same problems downloads do and ROM cards are way more expensive than BD.

Shh! Don't talk logically here. Many people are hoping this will kill .

Just back out slowly and let them live under the delusion it will happen.

Like Ace said "This isn't practical at the moment" I don't see anyone here saying this is practical yet. Something to look forward to for sure. Unless you are the type that never wanted VHS to end?
