Headline of article: "Blu-ray sells stronger than HD DVD in March"

In other late breaking news, America lands on the Moon.

Seriously, I'd say we knew that BD sales would decimate HD DVD sales for March in, well, February.

Blu-ray also has a 70% market share so far for 2007.

And they'll hold that share for some time to come, no doubt. I think HD DVD will close that gap as the year progresses, but BD has probably had more than enough head start this year to keep a greater than 50% total share through the end of the year.

For the latest news check the new thread "Blu Ray trounces HD DVD again".... Sony's a bit of a whiny bitch with their publicity lately..

Congrats to BD - 1 million is a milestone.

However, this accomplishment is diminished a bit by the news that CR sold only 59k in March - that's less than a crappy SDVD.

And I helped! Yay for me!

As for the "...less tan a crappy SDVD..." Well, don't forget, there are still waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more people without HD players than with.

So the Blu-ray studios are losing 30 to 40% of their revenue by not being neutral.

I'm sure that is making them happy when every dollar counts when being involved in a format war.

As you have mentioned this point again, I'll mention again that Universal could add an extra 60%-70% of revenue by going neutral.

It's a dual edged sword. 1 studio versus all the others. Warner & Paramount is making the most money. Universal has no one getting in their pie. They're the only exclusive studio to HD DVD so they are strongly supported by HD DVD supporters.

The other studios are getting 60% of their revenue by being Blu-ray exclusive studios. Warner & Paramount is the only ones getting 100% revenues by both sides. The other Blu-ray exlusive studios are losing the extra 40% revenue.

There isn't 1 studio that is exclusive to Blu-ray like Universal is to HD DVD.

The neutral studios aren't exactly neutral with Warner releasing alot of their titles with Dolby TrueHD on HD DVD & Dolby Digital on Blu-ray & Paramount releasing on 1.5M Dolby on HD DVD & 640 kpbs on Blu-ray. Paramount is also releasing their releases on MPEG-2 on Blu-ray & VC-1 on HD DVD. I'll always choose the VC-1 over the MPEG-2 on picture quality. If they released their PQ on AVC it would be a harder choice.

You can argue that with gaming consoles this may not make that much of a difference if we're talking about X-box 360 versus PS3 but the majority of home theater people won't put gaming consoles in their systems.

They want the best picture & sound.
