Default Blu-ray studio support for the Spring

I was checking the official releases for the next 3 months and anyone can easily see that Blu Ray does not have any specials Blockbusters other than the 2 POTC movies, NATM and maybe...just maybe Cars.
Some of the other movies are very good ones ..but nothing that can make the balance going on their side again.

During these three months they are going to have to either come with surprises ( like HD DVD and WB did with Matrix ) or they will have to depend on their ability to increase the number of players in order to impress the competition.

As far as sales numbers go,
The Rock, and Con Air were also pretty huge. Add in the two POTC movies and Cars and it's still sitting in better position than HD DVD. And POTC 2 was actually much bigger than the matrix(or reloaded, or revolutions) in ticket sales.

And to be honest, when comparing HD DVD to Blu-ray releases, Blu-ray STILL has more blockbusters coming in the next 3 months than HD DVD, even if it's slightly less than what has been coming the past 3 months.

I do not think that you understand what I tried to picture with this post.
There is nothing impressive on those releases other than POTC 1 & 2 , NATM ( hopefully we will never see a second part ) and Cars.

I do not like to start throwing these numbers since I do believe that ticket sales do not have to reflect DVD sales in all cases. This time I will since you are the one who started talking about ticket sales.

$134,006,721 (USA) The Rock

$101,087,161 (USA) Con Air

Can easily be confronted with

$242,589,580 (USA) Bruce Almighty.

$181,395,380 (USA) Liar Liar.

I guess that Spiderman may be on the cards around the release of Spiderman 3.

You forgot about Ghost Rider, like it or not thats gonna be HUGE.So stop discrediting BR just because HD DVD Has nothing but the almost 10 year old Matrix and its 2 crappy sequels.Only 5 or 6 blockbusters this spring is quite alot, how many do HD DVD have?

Comedy catalog titles aren't going to sell a lot on HD. Jim Carrey or not.

Yeah nothing but the two biggest movies in the last 3 years ...PotC 1 and 2. According paidgeek, Sony is currently working on Spiderman 2 right now. Sony might just give us a surprise and release Spiderman 1 and 2 before Spiderman 3 comes out. This is just wishful thinking. If not that, then a trilogy release this fall is not bad at all. Also, rumors floating around about Star Wars and LotR trilogy.

Looking at theatrical releases, Blu-ray is looking REALLY strong come September/October. You have DAY AND DATE RELEASES of Spiderman 3, PotC:At World's End, FF2, Die Hard 4.0, The Simpsons and Ratatouille. What does Universal have to counter this ...Evan Almighty perhaps?

From now until the holiday season is just basically treading water. The real and probably last battle is the upcoming holiday season. This Christmas will decide the eventual winner.

So far in 2007 six films have grossed over $50 million. They will all be available on Blu-ray. Only 2 of them will be available on HD DVD - but that does include '300' so it's not all bad news (the other one is 'Norbit').

New titles released day/date are what makes big sales for either format. Having a box office hit doesn't always guarantee huge DVD sales but it certainly improves the chances. Having a box office failure almost guarantees low DVD sales (there have been a few exceptions with cult classics).
