Default The difference between HD DVD and VHS......

HD DVD has basically passed away as of today and there will be no more HD DVD players after March according to Toshiba. People with medium to large HD DVD collections should consider stocking up on extra HD DVD players while they can just so they could be covered later on. The difference between the two formats is that VCRs are still being made while HD DVD players will be a thing of the past come shortly. Just a word of advice to those HD DVD only people out there. Home version Beta players were being produced until only a few years ago.
But since worldwide sales of players didn't even reach a million I don't see much hope for companies to manufacture a combo player.

I'm sure you can still buy Beta players today, but yes, sounds like HD DVD players will not be made anymore. Still open is if HD DVD computer drives will be made, but with the problems they had/have with the writers, this might get dropped too.

Maybe Sony will be nice and make the PS3 Dual format After all this would increase it's sales as it would be another selling point.

If you have a large collection of HD DVD movies, probably best to hang onto it and enjoy them unless you can afford to replace them. As long as you have access to a working player they are still useable.

What will happen to the 'online' content for HD DVD? Guess this will eventually be shutdown.
