Default DVD Forum approves 2x HD DVD-R and 2x HD DVD-RW...FINALLY!

It looks like the DVD-Forum has *FINALLY* approved the specs for HDDVD-RW, which will be starting its' life at 2x. Also now approved is 2x HDDVD-R media.

Unfortunately, because of the lack of burners, it seems like there is a very big overstock of 1x HDDVD-R media.

Sadly, I think this will do nothing to save HDDVD's recordable format, which is still severely lacking in comparison to BluRay's equivilant.

By all means. Scaring away potential studios and reducing profits for HD DVD is fine by me.

LOL do you think any format is safe? Bluray will be copied eventually as well.....its not like HD-DVD is the only one that can be copied or will be the only one, all of the formats protections are busted in time, Sony has had a great track record of protection issues

All formats will get copied more sooner than later. Actually..if they promise right now that Blu Ray will not be copied I bet anybody here that then, out of the USA...Blu Ray will be the most hated format in the World.
People sometimes want to ignore than outside of the US, piracy is a huge bussiness that moves more money than the studios sometimes , and no matter what the studios or the FBI will do, it will grow faster than poverty.
Even a country like Canada is on the top ten of Piracy right now.

I agree with you. It's pretty much a lost cause.
