Default Paramount's "Indefinite Commitment"

Kinda ironic that exec Alan Bell's comment that Paramount's commitment to HD DVD was "indefinite" could actually help them in a way. The word "indefinite" could provide a convenient out. So many HD DVD fans took the word "indefinite" to mean "a really long time". Recent events could possibly mean "a really short time".

That's the beauty of the word "indefinite"... it really doesn't mean anything in this particular case.

They'll probably wait to see what sort of effect Warner's switch has on HDM sales. If there isn't an increase, and most titles continue to sell under 10,000 a week, they'll likely be content with sticking with HD DVD until the end of their "commitment".

I suppose this will all become clearer once CES begins.

Paramount have out clauses, I guarantee it, just a question of what the details of those clauses are.

They'll be back sooner or later with Blu, I would say sooner on current events.

It could also be a CYA.

Apparently Toshiba is crying that that going Blu-Ray 100% is a breech of contract. So saying your going to support HD DVD "indefinite" could be their savior.

Dump X amount of titles required to fulfill contract until end of contract then be done.
