Old news, and it;s a factory refurb thus does not qualify for the 5 free rebate and is the old tired 1.0 profile. Refurbs, that's really reaching. I thought price didn't matter?

What a sweet deal! I paid over $600 for mine back in March.
This is a really terrific player and at that price you can't go wrong!

Wrong forum dude. This REFURBISHED DEAL WITH NO FREE MOVIES was already posted in the price wars. Nice try.

now this is a fire sale. Philips seems to be liquidating stock of these old refurbs rotting and connecting dust. from $600 down to almost 50% off? wow

Actually it doesn't say anything about being a refurb on the Phillips web site.

And all I am doing is putting out some information which you seem to have pounced on awfully fast.

Is this waht they call damage control?

Are you that THREATENED by Phillips moving the surplus inventory of [as you said] an old tired 1.0 profile unit?

If it what you say it is then why so defensive?

THERE IS NO MENTION OF UNIT BEING A REFURB ON THE PHILLIPS WEB SITE

Maybe you need to have your eyes checked. It says "FACTORY RENEWED" right above the price.

It says Factory Renewed and explains what it is. It's not "factory new." The info is posted on the wrong forum, we have a forum for this and if you reviewed it, you would see this is already posted.

Sorry but no damage control is needed on a manufacturer getting rid of refurbs at a low price online. Lets be realistic. A 1.0 refurb player for $279? I think it is you, posting major damage control to try to curb the impact of brand new current gen players selling for sub-$200 USD.
