Default If Star Trek Fanatis purchased star trek?

Hd dvd would have the highest disk count sold , and i know this cause there are over 2 million Star trek fans and they are insane , i mean at the convention i went to , they were going crazying buy everything star trek....

I think blu-ray fans are underestimating Star trek fantactics who regardless of wether owning an hd dvd player or not , they will buy this to complete there star trek collection.

Just like how they buy those 200 sideshow figures or 500 phazer guns ......

i get the feelign star trek is gonna sell super high

And since the HD DVD combo is the only way to get this i expect at least over 500, 000 disk sold or anywhere to 1 million disk sold on day one of release.

And it doesn't matter if people are buying them for dvd or hd dvd , a sale will be a sale

General feeling I've seen is that the set is too expensive. Then there are the purests who don't like the changes. And then there are the people who are looking for a more future-tech solution (I.E. Blu-Ray).

Ok, I made that last one up... but the first 2 are deffinately true

Star Trek selling huge numbers would just give HD DVD the same problem as Blu has with the PS3: How do you know how many of these purchasers are purchasing it for the high-def content?

a million disks on its first day of release eh?

Transformers manages less than 100k and your predict it could be a million for star trek.

No. just no.

Star Trek Format sides:
Hd Dvd:
Klingons
Federation (depending on rank)

Blu-ray:
Romulans
Vulcans
Dominion

Anyways, the list goes on. Apparently Paramount won't comment on this though...

Do you know how many copies the original releases or the old series 1 box set sold? It would seem to me that they would be quite useful if you wanted to estiate sales of this re-issue.

Star Trek TV show DVD box sets have been traditionally high and they haven't sold well. What will make this set any different? Trekkie Fanatic Out!

Who cares? I guarantee you that one movie will not make or break either format.

I'm a star trek freak and I'm not repurchasing my collection in HD-DVD.

1) Star Trek fans are quite divided. There is a definite split between TOS fans and Next-Gen Fans.
2) No Trek Show has been filmed in HD except enterprise and most hardcore Trekkies hate that show (even though as one, I don't). There is absolutely no reason to purchase Star Trek in high def for most fans.

That being said, I will probably compress my Star Trek collection onto blu-ray discs once burners become cheap. My collection is currently comprised of like 100+ discs, which could easily be compressed onto about 10 blu-ray discs, one blu-ray disc per season of episodes.
