Default Will the 399.00 PS3 Convince People To Go Neutral?

I have the XBOX 360 ad-on and really enjoy my HD DVD movies. But lately, more movies are coming out exclusive to BD, like 28 Weeks Later, Live Free or Die Hard, and Apocalypto. I'd really like to have these movies in HD.
I hear Sony may be coming out with a 399.00 PS3. If and when that happens, I may go purple.
Anyone else out there (HD DVD owners) considering going neutral, especially if the 399.00 PS3 comes out?

Negative, too me there's not enough coming to BD beyond this 1 month spurt that warrants a $399+ purchase. As I've said before, as a price issue, there's a lot more catalog titles and new releases that better suit my taste on HDDVD.

No, not enough good titles that I really need to buy. A few that are tempting, yes, but not enough. Money isn't a big issue for me. Even if the playstation was $99 I'd still be annoyed about sony trying to screw the industry to get out of paying royalties to the DVD forum.

The $399 PS3 won't have built-in WiFi or the hardware PS2 backward compatibility that the vastly superior $499 60GB version has.

However, it is basically comparable to a 360 premium package with the HD DVD add-on though with 20 extra gigs in the HDD (349 + 149 = 500) so it definitely is a GREAT deal.

It does have built in Wifi: Straight from Sony's Press Release. However in Japan I think they get two colors.

Also Note Today: At the HDTV DisplaySearch conference Wednesday "PS3 is expected to soon offer a firmware upgrade to boost its Blu-ray interactivity functionality, noted Sony’s Eklund"

Some will, but people like me are waiting for $299 and finalized 2.0 BD-J hardware support. We don't truly even know if the PS3 will keep up, although it seems highly likely. I want to be sure though. And, don't really want a PS3, as I have enough game machines.

I don't think gamers are waiting for a Lite edition of PS3, they want the 80GB for $399 - now that would be a huge move. However at $399, it's surely a cost friendly option. I think it will do well, PS is a strong brand and this is a competitive price point.

Not so far! I would rather buy all of those films in HD DVD format from europe, the UK or elsewhere!

Really I dont think those that are waiting to go neutral are waiting for a "cheaper" Ps3. I know I am not, personally I am waiting for a dual format stand alone player which will most likely be the Samsung. I just cant over look the options the stand alone player would give me over just buying a Ps3 "on the cheap".

My mom is thinking about getting a high def player. I was going through the bits and pieces of HD and BD and she was more interested in BD (she likes Disney). I told her that the cheapest option is to get a PS3, but she should wait because they are supposed to go down in price. Her answer:
"What the [email protected] do I want a Playstation for? I'm 55; I'm not about to start playing video games"

In the end, she's decided to stick with regular DVD.
