Default Wal-Mart Advertising for HD DVD????

Although these seem to be given out by HD Group, the Walmart name is on it.

We have those at the Circuit City where I work, too.

No Walmart logo on ours though, obviously.

That is the worst ad campaign I have ever seen. How about showing some movies that are available or will be available soon? Or maybe just more then a bunch of creepy red and black pictures? WHo designed this and what audience are they trying to reach?

I haven't seen Walmart's version, except for in those sample JPEGs, but our version is very attractive and very informative if the person picks it up and reads through it. There's probably about a dozen pages on them, each discussing a different aspect of the format, including a bit of "Fact or Myth" points.

HAHA! Awesome.

My Wal-Mart doesn't have any of those up, but they have a 'demo obelisk' in the electronics section. big square-ish shelf display with flatscreens on opposite sides, and two sides each dedicated to HD DVD and to Blu-ray.

Unbiased to the point of comical, really. You walk in a circle around it and hear the best pitches each side has, spouting out from the demo videos from each side. It's interesting to see what angle each format is pushing, too.

HD DVD is touting their interactivity capabilities, while Blu-ray is touting how many companies they have making their players. Eventually they both get around to mentioning improved picture and sound quality.

It's very informative, and they both have diagrams up making it painfully clear to the consumers that the recipe for HD movies is one particular player, discs for that particular player, and a hi-def TV. There were discs mixed up in the shelves though.

I feel bad for anyone coming across this for the first time. I know if it were me, I'd just sit there and wonder "Why are there two?"
