Default Ridley Scott supports blu

Medusa Distribution, an Italian film distributor and exclusive HD DVD supporter, will release 'Kingdom of Heaven' as their first Blu-ray title. The move comes after the film's director, Ridley Scott, insisted that they release the title on Blu-ray. The acclaimed director joins the ranks of Steven Spielberg and Francis Ford Coppola as filmmakers who insist their films get distributed on Blu-ray.

It looks like HDDVD supporters won't even be able to import some titles due to directors favoring Blu-Ray.

By the way, are there any significant directors favoring HD-DVD? Didn't think so.

flamebait hack marketing

oh what a surprise... it's from blu-ray.com

Scott isn't "supporting" blu-ray

He's staying neutral.

Endless bullshit like this is the reason some people still believe blu-ray has better picture quality. It's marketing, if you can't tell that you are beyond help

The blu-ray.com article has a link to the original article in Italian.

I translated using babelfish and here's the paragraph that concerns Ridley Scott:

Behind this decision, there would be the will of the director American whom it would have expected that all the own films come publish to you in Blu-ray. At the moment we do not know give ulterior technical details to you and of extra contents of this new edition in HD of "the Crusades".

Have you been pwned enough today? Or do you want more?

Here's the original source, please use babelfish.

Blade Runner is coming out on HD DVD so that kind of shoots down that argument.

Supports blu, doesn't mean prefers blu, nor does it mean he isn't neutral. To be neutral you support both or neither.

So - yes he supports blu. Enough to request his titles be released in blu-ray.

how does that pwn me?

You're going to give a flawed translation much of which will be lost in translation. What this is saying is that he insists his films only available in HD be made available in blu-ray as well. For one small distributor...

Also, was attacking blu-ray.com. Are you honestly that blind that that article DOESN'T seem hugely biassed to you?

Like Spielberg, he wants his films to be available at least on Blu-ray. If they are available on HD DVD, that's okay with him.

But he knew better than throw a Bay-like tantrum when Paramount decided to discountinue Black Rain on Blu-ray.

Especially when he has been completely hands on with this version to ensure that it is the absolute definitive edition.

Its easy to feed people words about either format. Ask him about Blu Ray and he will comment on it and if he doesnt mention HD DVD it means he favours Blu, if he does mention it, edit the comment out (as is done in interviews) and he favours Blu. HD DVD could do that too but why lower themselves. Didnt Michael Bay get bitch slapped a few weeks back for dissing HD DVD. Apart from studios and manufacturers everyone will remain nutral to see how it plays out.

Spielberg might favour Blu becuase his kids have a PS3, would he favour HD DVD if his kids had an XBox 360? Its easy to favour one side if you have only seen one side
