Default Would you have bought a Stand-Alone Blu-ray player if your PS3 didn't have one?

This is mostly for the 90%+ of Blu-Ray supporters that use their PS3 to play their discs.

Would you have gone out and bought a stand-alone Blu-ray player had your PS3 not come with one built in. Simple "Yes" or "No" poll.

P.S. And we're talking the day you bought your PS3, not some mythical, or hypothetical, date later. So we're talking first gen player for most of you in the $800+ range.

Very biased
Price is very important to what the consumer will buy and the PS3 had the highest value at the time and with probable BD-j1.1 spec complainant. Instead of people waiting months for BD-j1.1 specs why not get the PS3

So a unbiased question would be the" decision to buy a PS3 was do to "

hell no! They are frigging expensive! I probably would have waited for a 400$ bd player. I dont think I would've bought a hd-ded player. Now that i think about it, maybe i would've. Ps3 is IMO the best system ive ever had. For all those planning on going neutral, I recommend the ps3.

If you consider that an unbiased question, then you should also create a poll for the Xbox fans, asking if they would have bought a stand alone HD-DVD player when they first came out at $500 if the 360 didn't have an add-on.

I think you'll probably find the results similar.

I probably would not have bought a standalone player at the time. PS3 was just cheaper and better than any standalone Blu-ray player at the time. PS3 was great value as a games machine and BD player, so that's why I bought it.

YES. Yeah... they are expensive. If you want the latest and greatest your going to have to pay. Based on the studio support, I would have gone with blu..if I had to pick one format.

Nope. I bought the PS3 100% for the Blu-ray player. I would have waited for a decent priced standalone.

how is his question biased?
A biased question is one that leads a person to a certain answer. That doesn't exist here.

I did buy a first gen blu-ray player and replaced it with the PS3.

It all depends, if the PS3 didn't have one, the war would probably look quite different. Although we'd likely see cheaper blu-ray standalone players to stay competitive without the PS3. I'm guessing the race would have been closer overall, and I'd have likely sat out until I was reasonably confident which side would win.

If one side or the other had convinced me, I'd have bought that side.
