Default Is their any chance of blu-ray ever replacing DVD?

I was thinking about this while on vvacation th eother week. Like the DVD stamped out the VHS, can we see a similar thing with Blu-Ray and DVD? does HD-DVD have a better chance of this?

In a word, no.

There are many reasons which have been discussed to death here and everywhere over many months.

Of course it can, it just needs time, like all new formats do.

Yes, BD will be the next DVD and just as prevalent in 10 years, when we are bickering about which 4k format will win the next gen. Actually for the next gen, i expect them to make the discs much smaller, I really wish dvds, bds, and hddvds were umd sized.

Don't count on it neither HD-disc-formats will survive long enough to get the same user base... The future is VOD. Like it or not.

Ok, maybe one or both the formats will survive, but I believe that before 6JP get to buy a player in either format, he will rather rent movies in HD online. The discs will in the future only be sold to nerds like us

It's funny that everyone who says VOD is the future is an HDDVD supporter...

I'm neutral mate, and has been so since day one, I was just waiting for the Pioneer Blu-ray drive for my HTPC. I don't care about format, I care about movies.

If BD+ gets release and hacked yes.
If BD+ does not get hacked, then the format will be hated all over the world.

Being neutral still means financially supporting HDDVD, and since you currently do not have a BD player or media opposed to 40 HDDVD's, still makes you biased towards HDDVD.
