Default when will blu-ray catch up to hd dvd in terms of price

when do you think will blu-ray if ever caught up with hd dvd in terms of price.

my opinion is that it will happend but too late for blu-ray to win the format war.

neighter i think that hd dvd will win the war.

i think that both formats will have to co-exisits mainly because i do not see
Sony and its subsidies to ever support hd dvd.

Sony is too proud to admit defeat.

so i think that dual playeres like dvd + / - are the future.

for the sake of both formats i hope it will happen soon.

otherwise we can see new formats coming out (especially downloadable content kept on big hard drives someting ala ipod but for movies) and both formats will loose

i do not think that this idea is impossible to achieve. remember that dvd combo drives were expensive when originally released and over time they become affordable and later dirty cheap.

Lot's of circumstances....

1) If HD DVD died today I think it would take around 12-16 months to reach $199.

2) It seems a general concensus that people think the relative production costs are the same and toshiba is selling at a loss. If true and toshiba stopped selling at a loss, right away.

3) If things keep going down the same path, toshiba selling at a loss and sony/panasonic refusing to do so (assuming both formats are around), 2 years before they're the same or very close.

I'd say at least a year before we see a Blu-Ray player in the $250-200 dollar range (Toshiba HD-A2). But by then who will know how much a HD DVD player will cost. We'll never know if Sony is able to catch up.

By Christmas. With a killer Q4 for Blu-ray this year, nothing will be able to top it off unless the Sony, Samsung, etc... announce major price drops on players.

PS: Why do you keep using past tense words? "Blu-ray caught up"

Are you talking about players or movie costs? I find, on average, that Blu-Ray content is cheaper. They constantly have sales at Amazon. Combos are pricey.

If you are talking player costs, I think HD DVD will most likely be cheaper by 2 years or so, obviously depending on what happens. They have to keep the prices lower than Blu-Ray due to the fact that Blu-Ray has the studio advantage.

He's intentionally using improper English to bait people into calling him out on it, then he reports them and they get infractions.
