Fox Free+ Amazon Prime!
Dear Customer,

I have big news for Amazon Prime members - we've just signed a deal with FOX to add a broad selection of movies and TV shows to our unlimited instant streaming service later this fall. The new additions from the FOX library include 24, Arrested Development, The X-Files, Ally McBeal, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and - available on digital video for the first time - The Wonder Years. We now have deals with CBS, NBCUniversal, Sony, and Warner Bros, and adding FOX will bring the total to more than 11,000 movies and TV shows available for unlimited instant streaming.

Since launching earlier this year, we have now doubled the number of titles available in Prime instant videos, and there's still more to come. Prime membership remains $79 a year, and of course features our unlimited free two-day shipping on millions of products. Prime is one of the best values anywhere.

Prime instant videos can be played on more than 300 HDTVs, Blu-ray players, and set-top boxes.

Millions have already joined Amazon Prime...

With more instant videos coming soon:

If you're a Prime member, start watching now. If not, start your one-month free trial today.

Thanks for being a customer,

Jeff Bezos
Founder & CEO
P.S. You can also watch movies and TV shows instantly at our Amazon Instant Video Store, where we offer more than 100,000 movies and TV shows for rent or purchase, no Prime membership required.

I really have to agree with the bolded part especially since my Prime membership is apparently about to get even better.

This is great news. Looks like Amazon is really gearing up to be a threat to Netflix streaming.

Hopefully Amazon has some UI updates in the works. The content is pretty compelling now, but not being able to bookmark shows and movies is a bit of a pain. The Netflix Instant Queue, Recently Watched, Recommendations, etc.. makes it really easy to find what you want quickly. With Amazon I have to search by title every time I want to watch something and it gets a little old. Still, they're making progress fast and I'm sure they're only going to get better.

I always figured it was stuck in licensing limbo given all the music that was used in the show.

I know the show Ed is in that situation (loved that show). No DVDs, no streaming... Hopefully Ed will get released in some capacity as well.

So when does the price increase take effect? The gravey train can't last forever.

Amazon, Fox Sign Streaming Deal
26 Sep, 2011
By: Erik Gruenwedel

Agreement ups Amazon Prime’s streaming content nearly 20% to 11,000 titles, including 20th Century Fox catalog movies and TV shows

Amazon Sept. 26 said it signed a deal with 20th Century Fox that allows its Amazon Prime loyalty members to stream for free a wide selection of the studio’s catalog movies and TV shows beginning this fall.

Movies include Speed, Mrs. Doubtfire, Doctor Dolittle, The Last of the Mohicans and Office Space, as well as classics such as The Longest Day, All About Eve, 9 to 5 and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. TV series include “24,” “The X-Files,” “NYPD Blue,” “Arrested Development,” “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” “Ally McBeal” and newly available “The Wonder Years.”

“Since the launch of Prime instant videos in February, we have more than doubled the library to 11,000 titles and will continue to add more of our customers’ favorite movies and TV shows to Prime instant videos,” said Steve Oliver, director of video at Amazon.com, in a statement.

Amazon Prime — widely considered the biggest streaming competitor to Netflix Instant Watch — is the ecommerce behemoth’s $79 membership loyalty program that also enables subscribers to receive next-day shipping on myriad purchases, including DVDs, Blu-ray Discs and BD players.
