Question Where will Bluray peak sales and rentals?

As we near Blurays peak. At least the format is already showing signs of slowing. Where do you see Bluray peaking in sales?

I'm going with 4-6 billion. Now is the time to put your money where your mouth is. So to speak. and I don't want to hear any "I'll have to wait till the end of the year to see how it does" excuses. If you don't vote that tells me you don't have much confidence in the format or don't want to admit you low or high expectations.

I voted the first choice, but actually think it will probably be $4.5 for the peak in sales and rentals so if it can be changed to the 2nd choice please do so.

I was torn between the two too. Not sure I can change it but your guess is noted anyway. I think it's going to end up right around there as well. Not good when you consider what DVD and VHS did.

As we near Blu-ray's peak?

When will that be? Last week? Next month? This fall? Years in the future?

Nope. no bias there at all.

So your entire purpose of creating this poll thread is to have people declare there expectations before we actually get some useful information that might make any estimates more intelligent and useful?

Just so you can hold it against them years later? Or something like that?

Seems a bit confusing.

We really will keep on getting better data every week now coming up with even next week's X-Men: First Class and the releases of Star Wars and Jurassic Park so logically asking this question after the fall will be much more reasonable in any case.

But here is some data to help with this question anyway:

No I added that bit of commentary because I think any excuses not to vote would be dumb. We all have the same info. The purpose of the poll is to see where peoples expectations are. To see how bullish or how bearish towards Bluray and it's future. Thank you for adding those charts. I wanted to do that but it was late last night and I created the poll using my iPhone.

Happy voting.

How could it be last week? No I don't think next month or this fall. I've been consistent with my guesses. You are very active in these forums so I am sure you have read my guesses. I think it will peak or be close to peaking in a couple of years. That means end of 2012 to 2013. That mean close to 0% YOY revenues.

That said. If we are at 2.3 billion for last year. My estimate is between 4-5 billion max. That would be about right. Unless you think Bluray is going to do what DVD couldn't according to your charts?

You seem very irritated with this poll. I think because it brings up reality you don't want to face. I see you couldn't bother to vote. I thank those that have voted so far. Thank you for being honest and putting your vote on the line. I don't expect most of the hardcore Bluray guys to vote. With that I mean the troublemakers. If they do I bet they do it in a mocking way. Like voting for the least amount to say "Bluray is doomed" just so they don't have to reveal their true expectations.

Anyway again thank you to those who vote honestly.

Yes, as we near. Clearly you are blind to the fact how little Blu-ray sales are up from last year and that the studios have scam pack releases just to help it.
