Default 50% of tablet owners view movies and TV

I thought this was interesting, particularly in light of the discussion around tablets having no OD capabilities.

Quote:
In-Stat research reports that 50 per cent of tablet owners are viewing not only feature-length movies on their device, but TV shows as well; an important revelation to both content producers and providers alike.
Quote:
“Tablets, in particular, have become a primary video device, both inside and outside the home,” says Keith Nissen, Research Director. “By 2015, our research projects that 65 per cent of the US population will own a smartphone and/or tablet. As these devices become a centre-point for video engagement and consumption, content providers, device manufacturers, and operators need to support a multiscreen usage model that reflects social interaction, screen interaction, personalisation, and mobility.”

- Nearly 60 per cent of smartphone/tablet owners will also be viewing OTT video at home

Few Smartphone Users Watching Movies, TV Shows

Quote:
With less than 20% of smartphone users watching TV or video on their device, new comScore data underscores the reality that watching video on a 3-inch screen isn’t surging in popularity

I watch on my nook color, but find it hard on my droid x, although I did watch Game of Thrones on my cellphone before I got HBOgo on my nook color.

My wife has more itunes movies for the kids on her account though. So we tend to use it a lot.

The relevant stat would be..
'Are they watching movies included in the Blu Ray'
'Are they watching movies they bought digitally'
'Did they even buy the movies theyre watching'

Is it an additional usage on top of other viewing?

What "movies included in the BD" are you referring to?

How many people watch surround sound at home in the U.S.? I would guess about 5%.
