What happened to the DVD on one side and BD on the other discs that were all the rage in the press his time last year?

Still out there. Summit is using them for some releases as does Best Buy for "exclusive" versions (Magruber).

Thankfully there are not more.

They are still in active release from Universal but I think that Blu-ray+DVD combos are seen as consumer preference. They may come back next year for more catalog releases though.

Double sided discs should die in a fire.

I much much prefer a Blu-ray+DVD combo on two separate discs. I'm glad that consumers seem to like them too.

Its just a bonus that both the flippers and BD+DVD combos count as Blu-ray sales in the statistics.

I prefer the separate DVD discs also, but as long as the package includes a DVD version of the film instead of those totally useless digital copy discs, I can live with the combo disc.

i love digital copies but dislike including them on a separate disc. It's such a waste of a disc- its usable once. Makes more sense just to bundle the code and thats it.

Just give me the bd only. Don't need the dvd or digital copy. I can manage my own copies.
