of course there's a chance, just like there's a chance an asteroid is directly headed for planet Earth as we speak. MS has negotiating power...I'm sure something can be worked out.

Well, you have to offer an alternative that's cheaper. Prices on Blu-ray replication and licensing aren't going to go up. They'll go down...and at some point, it's not going to be particularly cost conscious to try and come up with a separate format (not to mention having a media entertainment device that doesn't play the only HD physical format out there).

I guess anything is possible, but "we don't want to pay Sony money no matter what!" isn't quite the business priority I think some believe it is.

Microsoft will not support Blu-ray with this console and I would frankly be surprised if they used it in the next one. They are bitter bitches just like Toshiba. Screw them both.

I seem to remember the HD DVD drive selling like hotcakes but apparently XBOX owners have no interest in Blu-ray? Riiiiiiight.

That is correct. No one wants a blu-ray standalone player for $199, you think they will want an add on for the XBox @ $150-$200. Now with Vizio releasing $150 BD hardware, there is no incentive whatsoever for an XBox addon.

Source every single time was fanboy Taiwanese ODD maker who wants blu-ray to win in the worst way. If China wins they get nothing. You should know, you posted about this.

It's not just XBox owners who have no interest. It is everyone on planet earth minus about 5 million people.
