That's the thing: "for now". When they relayed the message they were supporting HD DVD only, now they might have changed their minds. Paramount was all set to release Blades of Glory until they went HD only. Fox was very anti-HD, but they were about to drop Blu if Warner joined them. So what they say and do are two different things. I'm not saying it's true, but it's possible.

Universal would be foolish to stay exclusive but studios don't always make the brightest decisions.

Well I can tell you with certainty that Universal has not re-committed itself to HD DVD. They have not signed any contract or agreement with the HD DVD group.

Agreed, it's not official yet from Universal but the business day is not over quite yet in California.

I was thinking they were obligated to release a certain amount of titles on hd dvd before they can officially say anything.

I definetely believe both Universal and Paramount will be releasing Blu fairly soon either way.

They will use the same VC-1 encode for both formats and Dolby TrueHD. Unless they run out of space on the 30GB disc thanks to all the extra features they like to use. Plus, how will they translate there U-Control features to Profile 1.1 Java? This will be fun to see. I am sure they will work it out, but it will be fun, so long as Warner and Universal and Paramount keep the Bookmarking feature from iHD, I dont care what format they release on.

Both Universal and Paramount NEVER said they are staying HDDVD EXCLUSIVE, they CLEARLY said "the CURRENT plan is to continue supporting HDDVD"

CURRENT: Means it could change at any given moment.
Supporting HDDVD: Not EXCLUSIVELY Supporting one format

This means, they could drop HDDVD support at any given moment
And in the very least, also indicates that there are NO EXCLUSIVITY AGREEMENTs, so they WILL go Neutral at the very least!!

Immediately after that, Ken Graffeo is fired and escorted out of Universal Studios with armed guards, while he is carrying his box of HDDVD promo goodies.

I think they will both go neutral and then dump HD-DVD eventually. I really want BTTF trilogy on Blu..
