Videoscan paragraph
Last sentence:
Quote:
There is a list of the next five units of each that did not make the top ten
Actually, those are the top 5 for each format relative to their #1.
Each top five is given a number. #1 always receiving a 100, subsequently #2-#5 receive a number less than 100 which indicates the volume sold relative to #1

I think one thing that stands out is the attachment rate. How can someone know usage per console/PC? Estimating these values means attachment rates are estimates themselves.
I put a note on the attach rate section, I haven't updated it yet because there are several threads discussing this. Once I see how these turn out, I will update it to reflect the best judgement of the forum.

Good job! This should be a sticky so new members don't have to start threads about DVD Empire on Mondays or Tuesdays or posts asking if Amazon.com is included or not in Nielsen VideoScan.

It should be mentioned that DVD Empire use the first day in the week which the numbers are for as lable instead of the last as all the other sources.

The sources included in Nielsen Video scan should be listed. We don't have all but links mention Amazon.com, BestBuy and Blockbuster for example. 60-70% is tracked by Nielsen Videoscan, HomeMediaMagazine sales data group use their numbers and other information from retailers and historic data to calculate the total amount of sold discs.

Hardware sales are usually tracked by NPD Group.

For Europe and the rest of the world outside USA it't usually GfK that tracks both hardware and software.

I like this as well. Can we take out the language of HD DVD usually leads early and is wiped out since we don't know what the trends will be in the future. This could be very informative and useful to everyone if the smackdown language were only slightly modified. Anyway, nice work.

I changed it to read that it has been observed throughout this year. I couldn't think of a concise way to word it without mentioning HD DVD, sorry.

Merlins, I added information about NPD and GfK.
