Default HR20 and 1 Terabyte Lacie two big problem

I recently got a Lacie two big 1 Terabyte eSATA drive which is setup by default at Raid 0. This drive hook up to
my HR20 ( DirecTV DVR ) and work flawless at first.

But the next day when I came home - the system could not read the data and lights were off. When I try to play
something - the screen is all black. Then I reboot it and I can play the movies.

I am wondering if I should format it on my PC first - to make sure its working correctly - or maybe go to single Big disk mode.
