Yeah, if it's anything like what they usually show it'll be bit-starved, cropped to 1.78:1 and have commercials within the movie (via pops).

I can't stand to watch movies on TNT.

HELL YES! Dear lord! You haven't seen LOTR until you've seen the EE's with DTS

BTW OP, I posted a thread about these a few months ago when they ran all 3 in a weekend. They didn't look too bad except for the stupid TNT banners and the Stretch-O-Vision effect

I was suprised at how well these looked, considering TNT-HD has garbage PQ about 95% of the time... Still nothing compared to Starz-HD, but worth watching...

I'm going to disagree with whoever said they are worth the double dip. I own the regular 2 disc version. Movie on one disc, features on another. I rented the EE version from Netflix and compared the two. I couldn't tell ANY difference in PQ switching back and forth. (Granted, this was not instant switching, I had to go on memory between the two while I switched disc's.) The sound, well can you tell between DD and DTS?

IMO, not worth a double dip. I wouldn't even like switching disc's to finish the movie. I see no upgrade at all really. The DD sounds just fine. Wait until it's on Blu for another LOTR purchase. There you will find an upgrade.

(This was played on an Oppo 983 and a Samsung HP-S5053 plasma.)

Anyways, on topic. I thought it looked great for TNT. I only watched a few minutes, but I didn't notice any macroblocking. I suppose this will differ between cable providers? My local Charter cable is pretty damn good on HD cable.
