Default SAMSUNG 1080I two way HD consumer cable boxes

Here are some new two way interactive Samsung 1080I HD digital cable boxes that consumers can now purchase. Now consumers can choose the features they want with the advantages of owning their own equipment instead of renting it. All cable companies are required to provide a cable card for consumers wanting to subscribe to encrypted programming.

Any word on price? I rent my cable box, but it does most of the things this samsung box does and only costs me $3-4 a month to rent it. If the samsung box is $399+ then it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to buy it outright since it would take close to a decade of renting just to equal the price of a purchased unit. Plus I wouldn't have the option of excahnging it later on if something went wrong.

I do not know the price yet but some cable companies charge upto $20 to rent each dual tuner box with DVR. Perhaps in a few years these boxes will cost under $100 with several brands and models to choose from.

what OS does the DVR use? I'm not particularly interested in yet another propriatary DVR implementation.... I'm using a scientific atlantic now, but moving forward it'll be either MS MC or Tivo
