Default No CC thru HDMI

My digital PVR DCT3416 model displays back to my Digital TV (1080i) via 4 options:
channel 3 output /svhs/ componant video jacks/ and the all new HDMI output. I have been running some recent tests to determine why my HDMI output will not show closed captioning to my TV using HDMI cable.
All the available outputs will display CC ,, but not HDMI.. ??

Then I discovered a website ( can't paste til I have tens posts )telling me that this is the case with HDMI..
what gives ??

CC is part of the NTSC specification. When it's being sent through HDMI or any other digital connector, it's not really NTSC.
