Default instresting comcast observation

I was messing around with my new Comcast receiver... I noticed that the hd broadcast channels specify dd 5.1, but the on demand does not specify it, but my reciever says dolby 3/2/1 (dolby digital 5.1) when i'm in the movie. It is cool how i see dolby surround 2/0 (pro logic sound) when i'm not in an on demand movie... it is kind of fun switching channels and seeing my reciever change it up. isn't that weird that the on demand doesn't specify dolby 5.1 as opposed to the live broadcast, yet my reciever tells me it is dolby digital 5.1?

also, i have my box hooked up via toslink optical... would upgrading to an hdmi reciver/output form my box improve my sound quality? does Comcast have dolby digital plus soundtracks (i won't bother with asking about truehd because dolby's site says it is designed for hd dvd and blu ray)
