Default AMC is Giving DISH Subscribers a Free 'Walking Dead' Season Premiere Stream

Just like they did with 'Breaking Bad,' AMC is making an effort to lure customers away from DISH.

I somewhat aware of both sides of what's been going on here.

AMC needs to get their butts in gear and reach an agreement with Dish. There are faults on both sides, but the bottom line is that I'm a Dish subscriber, I am upset about Dish not carrying AMC, but not pissed enough to dump Dish and go to cable to DirecTV.

Dish has already figured out the sky won't fall if they don't carry AMC in terms of Breaking Bad and Hell on Wheels, among other shows. The ball is clearly in AMC's court.

I can watch these shows via iTunes, but now, I'll just wait for the DVD or BDs when they come out. AMC is just hurting the viewers of its own TV shows by not reaching an agreement with Dish.

i'm over it already, there are three shows on amc that are worth a shit, and they all air at separate times during the year, that's like 40 hours a year they have good programming

i can just buy the shows and keep dish, i wouldn't switch to anything else now that i've had the hopper

I wish the iTunes season pass for The Walking Dead was a little cheaper. $42.99 for 16 episodes is pricey, especially since I'll probably end up buying the Blu-ray set so I can rip it and watch on whatever device I want.

Call up Dish. They will credit you the $43 to watch it. You have to push a little. I've already gotten $35 each for Breaking Bad and Hell on Wheels, and I'll call for The Walking Dead too after it starts.

You don't need AMC to stream anything! For those who want to see The Walking Dead: Season 1 & 2, you can buy it or rent it on blu-ray. The blu-ray will have superior A/V quality than streaming anyway.

Isn't this announcement for Season 3? If so, the Blu-ray won't be available until the end of the season. I can wait, but I know people who need their fix as soon as possible. Though I agree with you the BD in full 1080p will always be superior than current broadcasting/streaming standards.

Typically, the DVD/BD's for each season aren't released until right before the next season. So season 3 which starts this weekend, won't be available until right before season 4 starts.

Season 2 just came out on disc. Look up "B007MS5B6Q" on Amazon, for example.

What shocks me is that netflix streaming already has season 2. Doesn't that de-value the content to make it available so close to the blu-ray release date? You'd think they'd wait at least a year after the blu-ray set is released to go to streaming.
